SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, Fla. (WSVN) — A South Florida teen seen in a picture giving a Killian Sr. High School sophomore aid after he was stabbed by another student is speaking to 7News in an exclusive interview.
According to the arrest report, a search of the suspect’s book bag revealed two additional kitchen knives as well as a grilling utensil, a fork. At a juvenile justice hearing Wednesday morning, a judge refused a request for house arrest by the suspect. “Considering the allegations in this case, you will be in secure detention,” the judge told her.
A day earlier, 15-year-old DeAndre Johnson was stabbed in the chest with a long knife allegedly wielded by a 17-year-old female student, a senior at the school. The incident took place at the school’s courtyard, outside the cafeteria.
Pictures captured by students showed Johnson, a sophomore and a member of the football team, on the ground with a young woman holding a sweatshirt against his neck and chest. “I’m thankful for being where I was at the moment that I was, for being able to help my friend out,” said Arelys, who did not want to be identified.
