FAMU’s world-renowned Strikers Dance Troupe will join the Mahogany Dance Theater to celebrate the “Living Legends, 25 Years in Dance” on Saturday at 8 p.m. at the historic Lyric Theatre, 819 NW 2nd Avenue in Overtown.

Presented by The Black Archives of South Florida, the event will dazzle spectators with diverse dance styles of Hip-Hop, Ballet, modern, Jazz, Tap and African works. The group has been featured on So You Think You Can Dance?, Showtime at the Apollo, and America’.

The purpose of the Famu Strikers and Mahogany Dance Troupe organization is to unite and uplift African-American students, while promoting self confidence and a positive image through dance and comedy routines. As a performing organization, the group exemplifies professionalism, talent and discipline in an effort to provide for the community, especially the inner-city youth. Goals of the Famu Strikers and Mahogany Dance Troupe include heightening and expanding individual’s knowledge and awareness of different cultural dance forms, to give individuals a showcase to express their artistic abilities and provide the community at large with entertainment and public service.

The FAMU Strikers have dazzled audience all over the country with their electric dance moves. The group performed at Walt Disney World Annual Christmas Day Parade before a worldwide television audience on the ABC Network.
