Historical Note: Gilbert L. Raiford (Gilbert Raiford/Gilbert Lancelot Raiford) is a semi-retired but actively engaged member of the Miami community. He is well known as a professor at the Ellen Whiteside McDonnell School of Social Work at Barry University. An alumnus of Hampton University, Raiford holds Master's degrees in Educational Sociology and Social Work (the equivalent of two PhDs and an earned doctorate.) He has spent several years teaching courses in social work, psychology, sociology, history, political science, social research, and social welfare policy. In addition, Raiford has served as a mental health consultant in the non-profit sector and a mitigation expert (mental/emotional health).He also worked in public diplomacy for the US State Department and taught on military bases in Europe and Asia. The record contains documents from 1950 to 2011.
