Native Floridians, Freddie L. Robinson, Sr. and Dr. Susie Blocker Stewart Robinson met while studying at Tennessee State University, where they both graduated in 1967,earningBachelorDegrees I in Political Science and Elementary Education, respectively. Robinson continued his educational studies at the University of Northern Colorado where he obtained a Master Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, and a Certificate in Administration and Supervision from Nova Southeastern University and Florida International University. Dr. Robinson furthered her studies at Nova University in Fort Lauderdale, earning a Master of Science in Administration and Supervision and Doctorate in Educational Leadership 1999, Summa Cum Laude, from Nova Southeastern University. Both are longtime educators and administrators with Miami-Dade County Public Schools with more than 70 years of combined, dedicated commitment to academic excellence. Freddie Robinson began his start as an educator in 1969 at Dorsey Junior-High School; afterwards, with sharpened administrative skills, he became an assistant principal at Brownsville Junior High and Norland Middle, where he served as Principal's Designee, until his retirement in 2004.
Dr. Susie Robinson's illustrious career as an elementary teacher spanned over the years at several schools including Frederick Douglas, Blue Lakes, and Rainbow Park. She won Teacher of the Year in 1977, and later served as assistant principal at Norland and Oak Grove Elementary where she was promoted to principal. Under her directorship, implementation of successful programs such as Bringing Up Grades (B.U.G.), Young Men and Young Mentor, Robinson's Roses and Saturday School Tutorials were designed to help students excel at Oak Grove. In 2008, Dr. Robinson was named Mentor Principal of the Year. The couple's devotion to community is evident by their longtime commitments to many organizations, including: Beta Beta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, where Freddie Robinson is a life member and was named Alpha Man of the Year in 1980. Dr. Susie Robinson, a proud member of the Gamma Zeta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha, Sorority, Incorporated, has been honored as Soror of the Year, and serves on the organization's Executive Board and Committees. They are both active with the esteemed Miami Alumni Chapter of Tennessee State University and are members of St. James A.M.E. Church, serving on the Steward Board and Usher Board #1.
To those he encounters, Freddie L. Robinson, Jr. is an educator supreme and a gentleman of the highest order, and has been an excellent supervisor, counselor, role model and friend. Dr. Susie Robinson is fondly thought of as a change agent who fosters goals by setting high expectations. Her motto, "I believe I can learn, I can learn, I will learn," served as a daily, personal source of encouragement and commitment to staff and students. Because of their outstanding success as award-winning educators, both currently serve as University Supervisors for Pre-Student Teachers and Internship at Florida Memorial University in Miami Gardens. Freddie Robinson met Susie Blocker Stewart at Tennessee State University's Homecoming dance in 1962, they united in marriage in February 1965. To this perfect union three children were born: Dr. LaFreda Robinson Smith, (Dr. Noah), Mrs. Yolonda Denise Robinson Holland (Del), and Freddie L. Robinson, Jr., (Nichole), They have five grandchildren: Kayla Dominique Holland, Jonathan David Holland, Gabrielle Denae Holland, Noah Jerome Smith, Jr., and Freddie L.Robinson, III.
