Scope and Contents of the Materials
This collection consist of books, 1 DVD, and 7 postors signed by civil rights activist and co-founder of The Black Panthers, Bobby Seale. The subject of the materials is regarding the Black Panther Party and Bobby Seale.
Collection Historical Note
Bobby Seale born in Liberty, Texas to George and Thelma Seale. Seale joined the United States Air Force in 1955 after dropping out of high school. He received a dishonorable discharge from the Air Force due to his behavior. Seale met Huey P. Newton while attending college through the Afro-American Association. Both Seale and Newton were inspired by the teachings of Malcolm X. Seale and Newton created the Black Panther Party in October 1966. In 1978 Bobby Seale wrote an autobiography title, "A Lonely Rage."

The materials in the collection with the exception of "A Lonely Range" were for sale@ a event held at The Historic Lyric Theater by Black Tech Week. The materials were being sold by Bobby Seale, himself and where brought by/for The Black Archives. The book "A Lonely Range" was donated prior to The Black Archive, unknown date.
